et voici le roi et la reine... et voici la reine et le roi!

Thank you Rebecca and Yohann for hosting "la fête des rois" this year!!! This is a fun tradition from France that I hope to carry over into my family... Supposedly, we celebrate the arrival of the wise-men ("rois-mages") in Bethlehem...traditionally the 1st Sunday after New Year's.
Of course, this celebration now has little to do with the Savior... we have a traditional "frangipane" in which a "fève" (or dry bean- nowadays it's a ceramic figurine) is hidden. The person who finds the "fève" gets to pick a queen or king to be his... and is the king/queen of the year! There is a golden paper crown associated to this prestigious tittle...and you can imagine how we all covet it!
So, to be sure the cake distribution is fair...one person sits under the table and assigns pieces of cakes as they are being cut...seemed fair as a child but now...I really wonder...
Guillaume is the king this year- and he picled ME to be his queen!
